David called Travelguard, Here is how they compute the cost..
Take the number of points, multiply it by $5 a point. Take 5.15% of this value and that is the basic premium. For the Medical, add $3.65 per person per day.

So, for example a cat 5 room for 2 is 400 points. The insured value is $2000. The premium would be like $103. without the medical...

For this special DVC event, tips ARE included for your stateroom host and main dining servers. You are responsible for tipping roaming drink servers, room service, Palo's, the spa, and anyone else outside of the two groups included.

While there is no formal or semi-formal dining evenings as there is on the Magic, one night may be designated as a dress-up night, but even that is not exactly mandatory. The other nights are considered cruise casual, as an example, for men, polos/dockers would be acceptable. And don't forget Pirate night, where wearing some kind of pirate oriented attire is encouraged.

Documents - They look like small books with sheets that tear out. It is important that your documents are filled out before walking up to the window to check in. DCL has a new online checkin feature on their website to do most of the form filling out in advance. The advantage to this is if you repeat cruise all the info will already be entered :)

a) There is a Bahama's imigration form in there. Yes you should fill it out since Castaway Cay is in the Bahama's. You do not need to put anything in the intended stay(nights), type of accomodation, or hotel name boxes on the form. Those boxes are for visitors staying in the bahamas.

b) Credit card form. Only one adult in the party needs to fill this out. You just list who all can charge against that card.

c) Luggage tags. Put these on your luggage before heading to the ship. If you are flying down earlier than Sunday, and not using Disney transport, do NOT put the tags on until you're going to the ship!

d) Be sure before you leave home that you have taken your documents and your passports or birth certificates and picture ID. If you are using a birth certificate, make sure it is a state office issued one. Hospital ones with footprints or the like are not.

DCL Luggage Tag 101

You will have recieved in your docs tags for your luggage. There are some guidelines, the thing with the tags is timing.

Disney is setup to automatically take luggage with tags to the ship from Orlando International Airport.

Going to the ship

IF you're flying in the day of sailing and going directly to the ship. Yes you want to tag any luggage that you want Disney to transfer for you before even checking it with your airline at home. They will pull it before it even arrives at the carousel to pick up. I'd still suggest taking a sec to look at the carousel to make sure it doesn't show up there with the tag having fallen off.

Now, if you're flying in early you don't want to use these tags until you're going directly to the port. Disney may pull them right along with other cruisers and go to the ship without you. You will instead be giving over these bags to helpful porters who'll load them in bins to be brought onboard the ship when you arrive at the terminal. Might want to think about tipping these guys, they hustle and live on your tips.

Leaving the ship

On the last night of the cruise, you'll recieve in your stateroom other tags to put on all your checked luggage. Remove the old tag and put these on, then put them outside your stateroom door when you go for dinner. They will be collected and be waiting for you in the terminal when you disembark. There will be extra tags available in bins by guest services if you need more, or want some for scrapbooking. Another important thing, bring some address labels for envelopes to put on these tags, simplifies the process.

The Great Pirate Group Photo!

If you would like to take part in the Great Pirate Group Photo, here are the details:

1. On Pirate Night, meet in the atrium in front of Tritons at 7:50 p.m. SHARP!

2. Everyone will get in their place for picture.

3. At 7:55 p.m., a Disney Character in pirate attire (in the past we have had Pirate Mickey, Minnie; another time Capt. Hook and Mr. Smee; and another time Captain Mickey alone) will come to front and center for our photo opportunity.

4. At 7:55 p.m., Shutters Photographer will shoot about 6-10 pictures from one deck above (on deck 4 between elevators) telling everyone to look up and smile!

5. At approximately 10 p.m. that evening, there will be numerous copies of the photo in Shutters, 8 x 10 in size for purchase.

That's what will happen for the pirate photo. If you would like to participate, we will see you in the atrium at 7:50 p.m.

We are officially up to 47 passengers. The bus is FULL!

I would like cell phone numbers for everyone who is riding the bus and will have a cell phone with them. This is just in case I need to locate anyone who is late or lost while we are trying to depart on the 22nd or the 26th. I have already confirmed a pick up time on the 22nd for 9:00 am and on the 26th at 9:30 am with the bus company.

Those of us that will be using ME to and from the airport can call with airline information into MS.

Early Dining Linked Reservations!

Hi, everyone, my name is Cindy (cgcw which stands for C(indy), G(ary), C(ameron), W(alker) = my family) and I’m working on linking EARLY seating for dinner. That way, DIS’ers can sit together in one area of the dining room and have fun as a group. A great big extension of the camaraderie that comes from posting on our thread. Some of us dined together on prior cruises and it’s nice to know who your dining partners are going to be, rather than leaving the decision up to DCL.

It's been a while since I posted the early dining information. For those new to our thread, prior to sailing I have contacted Disney Cruise Lines to request that the DIS'ers listed below be seated together for dinner. Here's who I have as requesting to be linked. This is EARLY dining only, IIRC, Tina (tinkerbelle77) was going to try and coordinate a group for late dining.

Commemorative shirts and more for the Cruise!

Great news friends!! The store is open for business!!cool dude smiley

I just want to go over a couple of things before you start shopping:

* Colored shirts--I put the lime shirt in the store. Because of the colors in the graphic and the fact that the images are transparent, the colored shirts look very strange. I put it up anyway, so you guys can see it. I tried the pink and yellow and they looked ridiculous. White and Ash are there, and they are your best bet.

* Baseball Cap -- The way the template is set up, the image for a baseball cap is rectangular. Because our life preserver logo is square, it gets scaled down a bit on the cap. Once again, I just put it there for you to see.

* Infant onesie -- It doesn't allow for a back image. I'm thinking because most kids that wear onesie don't walk, so you don't see their back. So I put the back design on the front of the onesie.

* Toddler t shirts -- They don't have "pocket" graphics like the rest of the shirts. They are centered in the front. This is because these shirts run from 6 mo - 4T, they are pretty tiny and there really isn't much room in the pocket area for the graphic.

I think I did a pretty good job with the selection of shirts. I also added the journal, ornament, mug and mousepad. If you see anything else on cafepress you'd like to try out with our images, just let me know and I'll try it out for you.

One last thing I want to address....one of the reasons why we chose cafepress over zazzle was the ability to open the store as a not-for-profit one. Our store is set up as not-for-profit. That means there is ZERO markup on the merchandise. You are paying cafepresses prices. No one besides cafepress is making any money on this at all. If you would like to verify that on your own, feel free, the information is out there for you on cafepress, or I can send you a link with not-for-profit store info. I just want to make this clear for everyone to understand completely and fully.

Since we are using www.disboards.com on the items this has been run past Pete. It is his site and he owns the rights to that url. We got his approval to use it on all of the items.

Photo Gallery/Mini-Navigator!/Buttons!

The navigator has been completed! Everyone gets a copy with their buttons. However, if you want a preview copy, there's one in the Gallery, linked below.

Last cruise we did a photo gallery where members could see those who they were sailing with, when and where they joined DVC and their cabin numbers. We also did a mini navigator that we gave out on the cruise that listed cabn numbers for our members. Based on feedback we received on the cruise we would like to expand both of these.

We would like to coordinate all the information upfront. New this year to the gallery will be birthdays and anniversaries. Gail has voluneteered to keep an eye on these and help us celelbrate on the thread. Also new this year will be notating up front if you want to be part of the buttons and mini-navigator. For real names we are asking for full names but will only post your first name on the grid. Tell us what name you want on your button and buttons are for everyone - not just the DIS members of your family.

So please send the following information to member2006@monorailgreen.info

  • Dis name of anyone in your party that has one.(required)
  • Real names of eveyone in your party (first and last)(required)
  • Cabin number(required- request if you don't want it published)
  • Birthdays of everyone in your party (optional)
  • Anniversary date (optional)

  • Early/late seating(optional)
  • Where you are staying the night before the cruise? (not for the grid on the web page but so we can try and coordinate a DIS meet the night before)

The First DIS Meet:

Saturday, October 21st 3PM Eastern time
The Solarium in the Beach Club

This is an optional meet for anyone who came down early, if you get there, cool, but just as cool if your first meet is onboard the ship!

The Second DIS Meet:

Onboard the Wonder Sunday, October 22nd
by 3 pm BEFORE the Lifeboat Drill, which usually happens at 4pm
Deck 10, Midship(above the Goofy Pool, on the dock side)

Backup meet point if the weather isn't co-operating will be Deck 4 midship, the Promenade Lounge

And this is probably going to be the more common DIS meet. Everyone should be able to get to this one ok. We can try for some kind of group shot if everyone is game. We can also meetup there after the lifeboat drill for the sailaway party. The reason for the main meet to be before, is the sailaway party will be mobbed and VERY loud! Not the best time for everyone to get to know each other.

Fluff! or, other fun stuff to do!

Fish Extenders
No, this is not an aquatic life cosmetic accessory. What they are is you have an item called a 'message fish' on the wall right next to your cabin door so people have a place to leave you a message. It can hold paper, or an envelope or such, but that's about it. So to make more room, people have come up with a hanger to hang on the fish with pockets to hold more stuff. Sometimes sold as a wall hanging to hold greeting cards. First became a big thing on the 14-day West Repo cruise, and it's been adopted by this group as well. The best source for Disney themed ones is an Ebayer named Mrs. Lips.
