Ahoy, Mary!

Welcome to the sixth edition of S.S. Member Cruise 2005 Cruise News. We're less than two weeks away from the start of the "Happiest Celebration at Sea," and are very excited that you're joining us aboard our magical voyage.

From stem to stern, four days of fun and adventure
While every Disney Cruise Line® vacation is magical, the S.S. Member Cruise 2005 includes activities, events, and offerings that are exclusive to this Disney Vacation Club sailing of the Disney Wonder®.

Get to know your fellow Disney Vacation Club neighbors and win big with our Member Challenge. Test your Disney Vacation Club knowledge during special editions of "Who Wants to Be a Mouseketeer?" and "Mickey Mania." And bid on a piece of history from the vaults of The Walt Disney Company and Disney Vacation Club through our silent auction.

Another opportunity to win prizes is part of the Magic of Membership, a unique combination of our Member Update at the Walt Disney World® Resort and our Member Celebration aboard the Disney Magic®. It's a perfect way to get the very latest Disney Vacation Club news. And discover how your Membership makes it easy to travel the world during Member Getaways with Interval International®.

Plan to attend the S.S. Member Cruise 2005 Guest Speaker Series. Scheduled presenters include Jim Lewis, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Disney Vacation Club; Chef Gordon Holmes of Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort; a special guest from Walt Disney Imagineering; Christopher White, 2005 Walt Disney World Ambassador (read more about Christopher below); Don "Ducky" Williams, Senior Character Artist, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Marketing; and Dave Smith, Founder and Director, The Walt Disney Archives.

Plus, Art Linkletter—legendary humorist, television and film , and personal friend of Walt Disney—joins us for a very special appearance. Come hear his personal accounts of conversations with Walt about such notable events as the planning and 1955 opening of Disneyland® Park in California. Seating is limited.

Now while that's a pretty impressive line-up by any measure, here's something truly outstanding. Susan Egan, "The Belle of Broadway," will be entertaining Disney Vacation Club audiences in two exclusive live performances. Nominated for a Tony Award® and a Drama Desk® Award for her Broadway role as the original 'Belle' in Disney's "Beauty and the Beast," the multitalented Ms. Egan is also familiar to Disney fans as the voice of 'Meg' in the 1997 animated Disney feature, "Hercules." She recently completed her run in the starring role of "Thoroughly Modern Millie" on Broadway, and we're very excited to have her aboard the S.S. Member Cruise 2005.

And there's even more fun in store, as a Disney celebration wouldn't be complete without a surprise or two. All will be revealed when we're at sea!

Our Ambassador aboard the S.S. Member Cruise 2005
Due to a scheduling change, Rebecca Godsil, a 2005 Walt Disney World Ambassador, is no longer able to join us aboard the Disney Wonder. Taking over her duties is Christopher White, another member of this year's amazing Ambassador Team.

A native of South Carolina, Christopher visited the Walt Disney World Resort countless times with his family. His childhood dream of working there was realized as a college student, hired as a Merchandise Host in Tomorrowland® at the Magic Kingdom® Park. He followed up that experience with a management internship in the merchandise division. After graduating from college, Christopher was hired as a Retail Guest Service Manager at the Magic Kingdom Park, a position he has held for the past five years.

As part of our Guest Speaker Series, Christopher will share the history of the Ambassador program (created by Walt Disney himself in 1964), its evolution, and his involvement in recent events surrounding the Happiest Celebration On Earth.

Christopher is also scheduled to attend our special "Bon Voyage Party" on September 3, 2005. For details about this pre-sailing event, please read on!

Saying "Bon voyage" in a big way
If you're arriving in Central Florida prior to our sailing date, remember that we're counting down the final hours to the cruise by hosting a "Bon Voyage Party" in your honor! Come down to Downtown Disney® Pleasure Island on Saturday, September 3, 2005, beginning at 4:00 pm.

In fact, all Members visiting the Walt Disney World Resort on this date are invited to spend time with their Disney Vacation Club neighbors prior to the start of our special sailing. Light refreshments will be served and a cash bar will also be available. Entertainment includes music from a live DJ and three special performances at the Comedy Warehouse (seating is limited), plus pin trading and plenty of photo opportunities!

With Pleasure Island located right in the middle of the Downtown Disney area, you'll have your choice of dozens of dining and entertainment establishments to visit afterwards. Many offer discounts when you present your Member ID Card, so plan to take advantage of these special perks. Visit dvcmember.com for a full list of Downtown Disney perks.

Disney Vacation Club Members and their Guests sailing on the S.S. Member Cruise 2005 voyage also will enjoy complimentary admission to all Pleasure Island night clubs on the evening of September 3, 2005.*

*Must be 18 years of age or older to enjoy nightclubs, unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who has an acceptable form of identification. Must be 21 years of age or older to enter Mannequins Dance Palace and BET SoundStage™ Club. Valid photo ID is required.

Calling all treasure-trackers!
Our "Day of Adventure" aboard the S.S. Member Cruise 2005 includes a visit to Key West, Florida, an island paradise once overrun with pirates, bootleggers, and buccaneers. Now you can get in the spirit early by taking part in our first-ever S.S. Member Cruise Pirate Adventure during the "Bon Voyage Party."

This two-hour scavenger hunt on Pleasure Island and throughout the Downtown Disney area is guaranteed to challenge your mind as much as your might. For a "treasure hunting" fee of $50 per person, you'll receive your official pirate gear, consisting of an authentic pirate eye patch and bandana; a complete set of official pirate maps and clues; and a little lighted treasure to call your own. Trek over bridges and paths to find the key to unlock a hidden treasure chest at the end of the adventure.

Space is limited to the first 200 pirates, so chart your course for fun—register online today!

†The S.S. Member Cruise Pirate Adventure takes place throughout Downtown Disney Pleasure Island, Downtown Disney West Side, and Downtown Disney Marketplace, rain or shine. Designed as a walking adventure, all areas of this activity are also wheelchair accessible. When registering, please indicate the need for a wheelchair, if applicable. Additionally, this activity is best enjoyed by pirates ages 10 and older. If you have questions about whether or not this activity is right for you or your family and friends, please call (407) 938-3514.

We asked, you answered
Thanks to all who submitted questions for our Guest Speaker session with Jim Lewis, Disney Vacation Club Senior Vice President and General Manager. We are no longer accepting additional questions as we're in the process of sorting through the many e-mails we received. We hope to include as many of your questions as time allows.

Plan for a picture-perfect moment
As mentioned in the previous edition of S.S. Member Cruise 2005 Cruise News, all Members aboard the "Happiest Celebration at Sea" are encouraged to join us for our Member Group Photo.

Hundreds of Members have participated in past group photos, and since it takes a little time to coordinate such a large group, please come to Boat Harbor Beach on Castaway Cay at 10:00 am sharp on Wednesday, September 7, 2005. Allow 20 minutes to travel from the Disney Wonder to the beach. Be sure to bring your smile and the special gift you'll receive onboard for this occasion.

Preparations will begin promptly at 10:00 am, and all participants need to be available for up to 30 minutes while our photographers work to capture the moment perfectly.

Ready, set, cruise!
As you make preparations to attend the S.S. Member Cruise 2005, here are several important reminders:

  • In the event we need to reach you prior to Embarkation Day, please visit the S.S. Member Cruise 2005 page on dvcmember.com and click on the link to the online form to provide contact information for your traveling party.
  • We recommend packing the following items in a carry-on bag for easier access: proof of citizenship (photo copies are not accepted by U. S. and Bahamian Customs officials), valuables, medications (in their original containers), and any other personal items or other items required for check-in or embarkation.
  • To expedite check-in at the Disney Cruise Line terminal in Port Canaveral, please fill out your cruise documents completely before arriving. For Members staying at the Walt Disney World Resort prior to our voyage, safes are located in all Walt Disney World Resort hotels and safekeeping boxes are available at the front desk of each resort.
  • During this time of year, the average high temperature in Key West is 88F/31C with a low of 79F/26C; on Castaway Cay, the average high temperature is 87F/29C with a low of 77F/25C.

With this in mind, be sure to pack weather-appropriate clothing (e. g. lightweight shorts, pants, sundresses, jeans, and tops) and shoes (sneakers, sandals, boat shoes). Make room for some festive island wear, like colorful shirts, dresses, shorts, or pants, too. Bring swimwear, sunglasses, a sunhat or visor, and sunscreen (especially for the kids). And if your plans include dinner at Palo, a dress shirt or jacket is required for men; women should wear a dress or pantsuit.
  • Get into the spirit of the "Happiest Celebration at Sea" by bringing along attire that matches each day's theme. Embarkation Day is our "Day of Nostalgia,"so consider an ensemble of classic black and white (items screened with vintage Disney Character illustrations will do, too).

On the evening of our "Day of Adventure" (Day 2), pirate-themed attire will fit right in.

Getting outfitted in your royal finest—be imaginative!—is encouraged on Day 3, our "Day of Fantasy."
  • Don't miss a minute of the fun we've got planned; bring along an extra pair of glasses or contact lenses and your camera. Also please note that a limited number of strollers are available for rental on board. Of course, if you do forget something, many items can be purchased on board or when we arrive at port. For additional packing tips, please visit disneycruise.com.

A final note: If you need airport or resort transfers to/from Port Canaveral, you must confirm them with Member Services by Wednesday, August 31, 2005, or they can be purchased at Orlando International Airport on the day of our sailing. To reach Member Services, call (800) 800-9800, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm EDT, Monday through Friday. For your added convenience, Member Services accepts calls until 7:00 pm EDT on Thursdays. Member Services will not be open on Saturday, September 3, 2005, or Sunday, September 4, 2005. If you have last-minute changes to your reservation or need to speak with a Vacation Advisor, Member Services is open 9:00 am to 5:00 pm EDT on Friday, September 2, 2005.
